Yes. The sand is good for at least two batches of ants while the gel will remain good for several colonies worth of digging ants.
In the case of sand ant farms, sift out dead ants and old food from the sand. Put it back into your ant farm to start afresh.
In the case of gel ant farms, rinse dead ants and gel debris out of the tunnels with water. Drain the excess water and you are ready for a new colony. New ants will use existing tunnels and dig additional ones.
